RTD will militarise the 3,700 civilian Ford Everests on its site at Saint Nazaire (on France’s Atlantic coast, north of Bordeaux) over a period of at least four years. This militarisation (notably, strengthening the chassis and the suspension, as well as integrating transmission and telecommunications systems as we described in this article), as well as maintenance in operational condition for at leat 15 years, account for about 60 % of the value of the contract, a value that RTD has not made public.

Delivery of the first 150 Hp, 3.5 tonne vehicles which have a 900kg payload capacity, will begin in 2017.
