Invictus Games 2016 First Results

As the competition advances we will post the results of the French team here and when we get photos we’ll post them too.

Don’t be surprised to see that there are numerous medals because there can be several different events in some sports allowing athletes to compete with others who have similar handicaps, whilst in other sports all the athletes compete against each other whatever their handicap.

 

In cycling France won 6 of the 28 medals available in two events and seven categories: three road bike classes, one tandem class, two hand bike classes and one recumbent bike class.

 

The first event was a one-minute time trial over a 1.5km course and the second was a criterium with a set time for the race, the winner being the first competitor across the finish line.

In rowing (on machines) France won 4 of the 24 medals in two events with the same goal: to row as far as possible. One event was a one-minute sprint, the other a four-minute endurance. There were six functional categories.

In archery France won one team medal and one individual medal. In this competition men and women competed together and there was no functional categorization. For example, a competitor shooting from a stool could compete against competitors shooting with their mouth.
