The Royal Danish Army’s new 4×4 patrol vehicle will be the Eagle V produced by General Dynamics European Land System Mowag. First deliveries of the initial batch of 36 vehicles in the patrol configuration will be in 2018. The contract has options for further variants including electronic warfare, support and reconnaissance. The vehicles will complement the Danish ground force’s current fleet of 91 Eagle IVs acquired in 2005.
The vehicle was amongst four finalists short-listed by Denmark’s procurement agency, the FMI* in February 2016: the Aravis produced by Nexter, the L and M-ATV manufactured by Oshkosh Defense and the Cobra and Cobra-2 made by Otokar.
“We are very proud to have received this contract after an intensive international competition. The Eagle’s selection underlines the confidence and satisfaction of our Danish customer with our products and proves the “first-in-class” position of our EAGLE 4×4 in the segment of light and highly protected vehicles,” said Thomas Lattmann, Director International Business & Services, General Dynamics European Land Systems.
The EAGLE 4×4 is part of the EAGLE vehicle family, different configurations of which are successfully in service with the Danish Armed Forces, the German Bundeswehr and the Swiss Army.
The contract was signed on 15 June.
